Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back from the Sewers (version found in the Switch port of The Cowabunga Collection played for review)

“Back from the Sewers” at first seems too devotional towards fixing one troublesome element of the first Game Boy title, of enemies flying in from offscreen, and in doing so, providing too much information to the player and robbing them of some thrills. Later, though, it has the opposite problem, demanding blind jumps, navigating around enemy respawn points, and presenting the action from perspectives that don’t work on Game Boy. When “Back from the Sewers” isn’t boring me to sleep, it is frustrating to no end, and all the added enhancements to the presentation can’t mask a bad video game.
