Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (SNES version) (version found in the Switch port of The Cowabunga Collection played for review)

“Tournament Fighters” is horrifically unbalanced—blocked normals are the best way to fill a super meter that can represent a touch of death with some fighters, characters can be thrown out of blockstun, and special moves can come across as randomly assigned (one ranged specialist, for instance, has a command grab). It is also one of the most fun fighting games of its generation, its systems usually working towards jaw-dropping moments and an unpredictable atmosphere. Throw in top-notch presentation that makes it as fun to spectate as it is to watch, and you’ve got something many modern fighters can’t touch.
