Ms. Marvel (miniseries)

Like all of Disney’s Marvel shindigs, “Ms. Marvel” gloriously explodes in its final act with licensed songs, light shows, and someone saying “I DON’T KNOW IF I CAN” and someone arguing “I BELIEVE YOU CAN”. Until then, however, it’s a great coming-of-age story that starts like “Pretty in Pink” with superpowers and, no spoilers, eventually exploring wrenching emotional territory Disney’s core audience would likely never experience if they weren’t conditioned to watch all these blessed films and shows. Cap it off with a star-making performance from Iman Vellani and you have a strong candidate for the best show of 2022.
