Metroid

The type of game where “playing it” and “finishing it” aren’t the same thing. To play “Metroid” is to observe its archaic systems (a maze with no map—talk about overestimating your audience), admire what was polished at this early stage, and peacing out after half an hour. Finishing “Metroid” involves walkthroughs, endless backtracking, and substantially more pain than is brought joy, and while there’s an audience for this sort of masochism, that does not include me. The “Zero Mission” remake is the superior product, though I’d still suggest messing around with this one. Maybe you’ll find you like masochism!
