Hugo’s House of Horrors

“Maniac Mansion” was a frustrating game held up by its own novelty that has not stood the test of time, and this knockoff is even worse. “Hugo” would be an easy game to complete if it weren’t for the occasional moon logic puzzle; one crucial item found early can be rendered out of reach if the player doesn’t exactly know how and when to approach it. The jokes are nothing to write home about, unless I’m missing something hysterical about an old man in a cave basement asking questions about “Lord of the Rings”. Leave this one in the past.
