I Love You, Man

In which Judd Apatow’s compatriots slap together a low-risk, feel-good comedy that stretches neither the boundaries of the genre nor the audience’s patience. In many ways, this feels like the Adam Sandler version of an Apatow project, though it isn’t nearly as bad as Sandler’s batting average. I can’t get caught up in these jokes, unfortunately; many scenes seem to end just when they’re picking up steam, and I’m not sure what kind of tones Jason Segel is going for. It’s a fine enough time waster that you’ll likely click right past when searching for something to watch on Netflix.
