“Blood, Sweat, and Pixels: The Triumphant, Turbulent Stories Behind How Video Games Are Made” by Jason Schreier
This isn’t a book made to get folk who aren’t into games to take it up as a hobby, and while every game’s backstory gets just about equal space, it’s clear some of these tales don’t deserve as much lip service as others. That said, you can’t call “Pixels” poorly-paced; putting “Stardew Valley”’s lesser tale between two big-budget blockbusters does as much to convey how every video game is its own beast as the contents of the stories themselves do. It’s a quick read that’ll make you almost care about “Halo Wars” and hate Disney just that little bit more.
