Bloodborne

I’m weary of summarizing too much of “Bloodborne” due to sensitivity to spoilers, but the path it eventually takes makes for a far more unsettling experience than the Souls games that preceded it. The mechanical changes in gameplay limiting your defensive options is small potatoes in the face of what passes for common enemies late, and the eventual monstrosities put before you represent some of the most terrifying boss encounters I’ve ever seen. New Game+ reveals that I could have shaved hours off my initial playthrough with experimentation and better reflexes. The best new horror game I’ve played of 2015.
