Better Things (Season Two)

The disconnected feel of "Better Things"'s episodes might be the only thing holding it back ("Atlanta" does something similar but gets away with it due to its open embrace of the surreal). This season is otherwise a wonderful bit of grounded dramedy that, thanks to its smart writing and stupidly-good acting (please God let these kids go on to become rich and famous without messing them up), can get away with stuff like living eulogies and actors talking about acting as a metaphor for life and dance numbers and the lovely "no" scene that needs to be ripped off yesterday.
