Adam (2009 film)

Before he played a brilliant man living with Asperger’s with a knack for solving crimes, Hugh Dancy starred as a brilliant man living with Asperger’s with a knack for astronomy in this crowd-pleasing romantic dramedy. Credit to everyone involved that it stays watchable even as it goes through the usual genre arc (at least the conflict that sparks the split is a very Asperger’s specific problem, if that makes sense). Byrne and Dancy are impossible to not like together, and the way they stumble through incidental character study is both digestible and adorable. If only they could’ve stuck the landing.
