Zombieland (2009 film)

You can get away with a lot if you’re funny. “Zombieland” is nowhere near as deep as much of the heralded zombie cinema, including “Shaun of the Dead” and “One Cut of the Dead” (watch it!), and there’s no way to get past that the big set piece at the end requires a bunch of characters who’ve been sharp as tacks throughout the film to play hacky sack with the idiot ball. Even with these flaws, however, “Zombieland” maintains its comic energy, and with cutting a killer pace for eighty-seven minutes, it never threatens to overstay its welcome. Endlessly likable.
