X-Men 97 (To Me, My X-Men)
“X-Men” was never the most thoughtful show; it was undoubtedly better than most cartoons made to appeal to stupid children, but “Batman” and “Gargoyles” it wasn’t. This update retains much of the original’s goofy charm with substantial upgrades to the fight sequences, while most of the returning cast acquit themselves fine save Cal Dodd, whose Wolverine now sounds like a grumpy geezer. It probably wasn’t the best idea to end with the most intriguing plot point (Sunspot is almost half as lame as Loki), but this was probably the best opening episode of this show one could realistically ask for.
