Wolfwalkers

It’s hard to think of the last animated film I saw that combined outstanding visuals, an incredible score, great performances, and an allegory-addled narrative in service of what feels like a deeply personal story. “Wolfwalkers” is captivating from its early moments and only gets better as it goes on, building to a breathtaking climax that most American animated films could only dream of approaching in terms of payoff. I struggle to think of negatives beyond warning that children seven and under might get confused by the plot or unsettled by the visuals. An instant classic that will age like wine.
