Virtua Fighter 2 (Genesis / Mega Drive version)

The first entries in the “Virtua Fighter” series were rough, but this version lacks all of the charm of the high-end versions. You press buttons and things happen, sort of, occasionally. I was able to hit combos sometimes, but there’s no flow to this combat, nothing here that feels like you’re engaging with a game. This might have been acceptable as a tech demo, but there are Street Fighter titles on Game Boy machines that are more fun and faithful to their arcade counterpoints than this shoddy port. May be worth breaking out as part of a bad games marathon.
