The Simpsons (Marge Be Not Proud)

I’m guessing the reason this isn’t celebrated as a high point for “The Simpsons” is because it is packed with an assortment of episodes that could be argued as being the best. Regardless, “Proud” beautifully manages its balancing act of riotous humor and heartbreak while never having its emotional tones conflict with each other; the creator of “BoJack Horseman” has cited this as his favorite episode of “The Simpsons” and it isn’t hard to see the influence. The episode begins with a cannibal joke and ends on a heartwarming note, and I don’t see many holiday specials pull that off.
