The Last of Us (When You’re Lost in the Darkness)

“…And with joy that is almost pain, my heart goes back to wander there…” -excerpt from “My Lost Youth” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The idea of adapting a video game to more classically respected forms of media is, thanks to projects like “Arcane” and “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners”, hardly a fool’s errand, and “The Last of Us” might be the easiest sell for most audiences. The second half of the pilot struggles to connect its narrative dots, but it otherwise successfully translates the game’s feel and proper narrative for television, arguably to masterful degrees in parts. A better pilot than “The Leftovers”.
