The Girl Chewing Gum

I suppose I can see how, once upon a time, a work like this might have been important for those invested in experimental film. We’re fortysomething years removed from this moment, however, and while many works from the seventies still holds up, this is rather pedestrian by modern standards. The big revelation hardly registered as a twist to me as I had gone in believing it to be a given assumption, and I can’t imagine I would have otherwise enjoyed this short film had I not guessed the “twist”. An important film, maybe, perhaps once upon a time, to someone.
