The Curse (Land of Enchantment)

A brutal satire on home design reality shows, an unapologetic skewering of liberal feelgoodism consisting of little beyond dressing up the process of throwing breadcrumbs to the needy while wielding a Cheshire cat smile, and an uncomfortably convincing portrait of a relationship teetering on collapse, “The Curse” is practically doomed to be divisive; I gather many would react to the above list of positive qualities with revulsion. There’s plenty of time for the show to lose its focus or otherwise spectacularly falter (it IS a Showtime drama, after all), but for one episode, it’s as uncompromising as it is entertaining.
