The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel’s streak of good films ends at two, though “Ultron” is slightly better than the first Avengers film. At least this film occasionally has its heroes do heroic things, and while the action is mostly weightless and forgettable, it isn’t quite as impotent as the terrible first film. Then again, Joss Whedon still can’t write superheroes, Tony Stark remains an insufferable buffoon, the antagonist is yet another weak entity with no stage presence, and there’s little reason to care about much that happens in this film beyond ramifications for future films. No jokes about adoption, though, so, um, yay progress?
