Scream (2022 film; also known as “Scream 5”) (revisited)

I watched “Scream 5” (“Scr5am?”) soon after it was put on streaming, having not seen a “Scream film” since 1998, and I didn’t get it. Having watched all the films up until this point, I get it now, or at least most of it. The sardonic wit and underplayed sincerity relies on the audience understanding what’s happened up until this point, both literally and thematically, and I’m glad I gave this a second chance after catching up on the story, running gags, and big set pieces. It’s no classic, but it’s in the running for the third-best “Scream” so far.
