Scream 2

There’s an easy argument to make that “Scream” is a classic. “Scream 2”? That ain’t so easy. It’s plenty good, but it’s good in an “expanding on character development and themes introduced in the first part” kind of way, not a “grand old time for the uninitiated” kind of way. “2” is only ten minutes longer than the first but, thanks to its explorations of trauma and whatnot, it feels half an hour longer. There’s still plenty of fun to be had, though, and I prefer the climax of this film. Weaker than the first but a respectable outing nonetheless.
