Rollerdrome (PS5 version)
The best arena shooters make frenetic combat feel effortless, brief bursts of violence of awe-inspiring thrill. I often wished I was playing one of these shooters around the six-minute mark of each level. The game occasionally looks good, when it isn’t shooting missiles at your back and mines at your feet as you skate away from enemies to find a place to do tricks OR obfuscating an attack tell you need to respond to with a dust cloud of another attack, effectively deleting seven minutes of work. Couple this with a bad story told bluntly and you have a stinker.
