Nightbreed (Director’s Cut)

The only acceptable reason to not like “Nightbreed” is to have never seen “Nightbreed” (the director’s cut, at least, or the mythical blessed Cabal cut—anything but the theatrical version, really). At its worst moments, it is glorious 80s cheese, bad wigs and greenscreen not quite working how it should in a way that conveys charm. At its best, you’ve got an engaging story about trying to find a place in a world while fighting off oppressive forces, both metaphorical and very much physical in the form of Cronenberg’s Decker. X-Men as a horror film; this should’ve become a franchise.
