My Year of Dicks (2022 short film)

Word going around the film circles I’ve peeked my head in goes it’s between this and “Ice Merchants” for Best Animated Short, and while I can’t comment on the quality of “Merchants” (yet), “Dicks” will be hard to top. “Dicks” may be short but “Dicks” packs a hell of a punch, telling its bonkers-yet-vaguely-relatable tale through a variety of animation techniques that leaves room for pathos, humor, horror, and tangible warmth. “Dicks” had me sighing one minute and laughing my tail off the next. This is probably the most dick-related fun anyone will have for twenty-four consecutive minutes this year.
