My House (Doom 2 WAD)
“My House” might be the greatest “Doom 2” WAD ever made. It’s easily the second-most impressive thing I’ve ever seen done with the Doom Engine after “Sonic Robo Blast 2”, starting off as a low fidelity creation not unlike what you’d expect from a newcomer before, without getting into ruinous spoilers, the level reveals itself to be a showcase of what’s still possible with the engine in the hands of someone with the creativity, drive, and know-how to make it all work. There are prestigious horror films that struggle to conjure the sense of dread this WAD maintains almost effortlessly.
