Mortal Kombat (2021 film)

This sucked. If you’re hoping for a decent martial arts film, look elsewhere as the action is unspectacular outside of a few moments of ultraviolence. If you’re hoping for a project that makes sense of the compelling but diametrically opposing tones of the video games, look elsewhere as this film can hardly tell a simple story without tripping over itself; the worst of this is the opening ten minutes, which undermines its tragic, understated introduction with the sudden appearance of LIGHTNING MAN. Kano was the highlight of the film and everything else was stupid in a way that wasn’t fun.
