Modern Family (Season Two) (revisited)

I railed against the show’s steadfast commitment to formula the first time around, but after watching a whole bunch of modern comedies whose formula seemingly consists of “tell no jokes and have people hug each other at the end of the episode”, I guess I’ve softened on this season. Jokes! Imagine that! In an acclaimed American sitcom, too! Maybe I still remember the controversy surrounding an episode early in the season that saw one of the showrunners try to shame the audience by saying “DAMN WE WERE GETTING AROUND TO THAT SHUT YALL TRAPS”. Whatever, this was consistently funny stuff.
