Mike Bailey vs. Bandido (quarter finals of the WXW 16 Carat Gold 2020), from WXW 16 Carat Gold 2020 Night Two

Considered by some to be a dark horse candidate for the best match of 2020, this just didn’t do much for me. It’s a lighthearted spotfest complete with two sing-a-longs (really), which isn’t a bad thing but such matches need a spectacular escalation of moves in order to stand on their own merits and this fell short of that standard. I can’t call this a bad match, but I found myself confused whenever the crowd would start chanting “fight forever”, as though the competitors were doing anything besides what they had done hundreds of times before. Neat finishing sequence, though.
