Mighty Switch Force! (3DS version)

There are too many games that show promise with one mode of combat and movement but whose mechanics are in service of dreadful design that ruins the entire experience. “Crosscode” is probably the most nakedly pathetic example of this (starts as the Zeldalike of your dreams, becomes the tedious puzzle game of your nightmares), but “Mighty Switch Force!” ranks up there as well, where the jumping and shooting all feel great but are in service of a speedrunning collect-a-thon; just have Gordon Ramsay make Happy Meals while you’re at it. The soundtrack isn’t too bad; shame it’s in this crap.
