Meet Your Maker

A game that bets hard on the ingenuity, playfulness, and overall artful potential of the video game community. Its failure, then, is entirely predictable. MYM’s mechanics beg for levels to be brief and are ripe for delightful misdirection, so when you’re confronted with boring level after boring level of checking practically every surface for minutes at a time, you lose faith in the entire enterprise. (The long load times don’t help.) If I wanted to be bored with quick kill scenarios propped up by a community of misogynists who are alarmingly receptive to fascist rhetoric, I’d play more “Elden Ring”.
