Mass (2021 film)
“Mass” falls apart a bit near the end, when the shot selection gets a little too adventurous for its own good and the dialogue takes too many shortcuts (to my liking, at least). It’s otherwise just about all I could want from this setup, two pairs of parents talking about their shared tragedy and what’s to happen going forward. It’s a difficult story to tell and a lesser hand might have aimed to relieve the tension with tempered breaks, but first-time director Fran Kranz trusts his writing and his actors to conjure something compelling and he’s right to do so.
