Mankind / Mick Foley vs. The Rock for the WWF Championship (Empty Arena), from WWF Halftime Heat 1999

For as many odd turns and angles that WWE has pursued over the years, they usually treat their world title with a good deal more reverence than is hinted at with this silly match. “Johnson beats up Foley for the better part of twenty minutes, then the weird finish happens” might not sound entertaining, but The Rock turns the whole thing into an improvised comedy sketch and I don’t think I need to explain why that’s entertaining. It’s not sophisticated, it’s not fancy, and the ramifications of this were void come WrestleMania season, but it’s pretty alright in a vacuum.
