Jazzpunk

Wearing your influences on your sleeve isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but “Jazzpunk” cribs so hard from Blendo’s “Gravity Bone” and especially “Thirty Flights of Loving” that the only substantive elements outside of the slanted presentation and subversions inspired by the source material is its kah-RAZY sense of humor. Props to Necrophone for going for the jugular with the humor, mixing slapstick with the truly absurd into occasional gut-busters, but that’s all it is. Once the credits roll, you’re done—nothing to read into here. This is a well executed middle school joke, adapted from a brilliant sketch half remembered.
