Invincible (That Actually Hurt)

Past episodes of “Invincible” have teased it wants to focus its energies on how one’s hopeful optimism towards making a difference can harshly clash with the grim reality of what a modern world with superpowered beings would manifest. Dumb clone villain B-plot aside, “Invincible” spends this whole episode with its gloves off in service of this mission statement and the result, from the humans investigating a mystery they don’t want answered to the truly shocking violence (the first in some time) in the climax, is leaps and bounds better than everything that came before it. A damn great forty-five minutes.
