Ice Hockey

The Nintendo Entertainment System had plenty of bad sports titles, but this isn’t one of them. “Ice Hockey” has a lot of fun ideas and sophisticated elements, from each player always being in control of their goalie to recognizing that not every player on the ice aspires to be Wayne Gretzky—some, for example, take up the task of killing anyone that ever gets close to Wayne Gretzky. It makes for one of the better one-on-one NES titles only held back by a lack of modes and play typically lasting much longer than needs for a winner to be determined.
