Hereditary

I doubt I will ever watch “Hereditary” by myself ever again. There’s a lot to break down about this masterpiece and not a lot of ways to do so without spoiling much of it, but I keep coming back to what Stephen King supposedly said about Stanley Kubrick’s treatment of “The Shining”: “…a film that hurts people.” “Hereditary” marvelously and devastatingly hurts; I can’t fault anyone that stops watching the film before its conclusion. It’s a film that refuses to leave your subconscious. It’s one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen and I can’t imagine revisiting it anytime soon.
