Her Story

I get what they’re going for, I really do, and I understand the story that is eventually told. While there is some joy in piecing together these disparate parts, though, the underlying story does not have the legs to keep this house of cards together. It is a rote tale of well-worn tropes that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, and Barlow’s tendency to go “HEY AUDIENCE, ARE YOU UNDERSTANDING THE METAPHORS I’M PLAYING WITH” gets old fast. The setup here is great, and I wish it had been in service of better material than what I find here.
