Hannibal (Season Two)

The season begins by promising it would take its characters to their physical and emotional limits, and it does not disappoint. What took “Breaking Bad” four or five seasons to accomplish, “Hannibal” has done in two. Every other shot here is mesmerizing. Every bit of the soundtrack has purpose. The actors are tasked with portraying their roles in about three simultaneous chess games while also trying to come to terms with their own emotional baggage, and they all rise to the task. This is the sort of television that begs to be dissected, ingested, and discussed for decades to come.
