Ginger Snaps (2000 film)

I went into this expecting a decent time and I was pleasantly—no, wonderfully—surprised. It had a reduced budget ($5 million, not nothing but a third of what the Blair Witch sequel worked with) and there are plenty of times where it shows, but even in its weaker moments, it always feels like the people making “Ginger Snaps” cared about its world and characters, an appreciation that manifests through its delirious sense of humor, its evocative use of violence, and the shocking emotional heft that guides its final third. A damn strong film every horror film fan should experience.
