Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I've seen "Mind" the whole way through, at most, twice in my life, though I've eternalized bits played in passing, enough that my most recent viewing confirmed long-held assumptions of mine: that the first half is thoroughly boring and the second half at least looks pretty. I kept assuming I missed some signature scene that dispels the Eight Deadly Words, but my latest viewing showed no, "Spotless" has no such moment. Winslet turns in a good performance and some of the visuals are striking, but how meaningful are these qualities when they're in service of such an emotionally hollow film?
