Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Prologue through Act 1 conclusion) (review contains no spoilers)
If the remainder of the game represented a dropoff in quality that makes “Indigo Prophecy” look like a trip over a pebble in comparison, the opening act of Sandfall Interactive’s first title would still be regarded as a textbook case of a command of tone. The mix of comedy, drama, and action feel complementary to each other without contradicting each other, all crucial aspects of the emotional narrative being conveyed so that the conclusion of this part of the story resonates up to its full potential. It already feels like we’ll be talking about this sequence for years to come.
