Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022 film)

“Reference-heavy comedic sendups of old concepts that find a roundabout way of realizing the original properties” is such a crowded field that I can say, with a straight face, that many films have done this idea better than Akiva Schaffer does with his latest feature. The brash, bare craft of “Chip’n’Dale” will be recognizable and appreciated by those who have adored other Lonely Island projects but will likely be anathema to anyone else, especially those hoping for a respectful treatment. I kind of loved this, in other words, though my standards mean the below score can only go so high.
