Catch the Fair One
“Catch the Fair One” is, at once, a political message, an eye-catching thriller, a longform rumination on violence, and an intense character study about a boxer-turned-vigilante played by boxer-turned-actress Kali Reis, whose next job will be as the lead in the next season of “True Detective”, which sounds about right. “One” also, at eighty minutes, doesn’t waste scenes or time, and while it isn’t much for subtlety, there’s no denying its power, especially as the moral dilemmas pile up in the second half parallel to the stack of bodies. A strong contender for the best feel-bad film of the year.
