Breaking Bad (Season One)

This reads a hell of a lot better when you know that “Breaking Bad” eventually goes somewhere. Between the writing strike and some aimlessness that likely would have been present even without that strike (Marie’s shoplifting, need I say more?), this feels more like setup for a belter of a second season, and while that sounds fine in retrospect, too many shows have underdelivered on their freshman season while promising the goods the following year, either failing in their promise or getting canceled before getting the chance. The third and last episodes are damn good; the rest is basically fine.
