Bionic Commando (NES title)

Much less exciting or riveting than you might remember. The shooting is stiff, movement is stiff, and progression is stiff. There’s something wonderful about finding your way through a level, when everything really clicks, but the movement options don’t encourage much experimentation. Fights play out in extremely similar fashion over the course of the game. It isn’t as though I can’t see why this isn’t so beloved, but the game’s novelty has far worn off. The level design just doesn’t work with how the game plays, and boredom is the biggest obstacle to progression. Better than most NES games, though.
