Baseball (Game Boy) (played on Switch for review)
It’s bad when my first positive thought with this game was “thank goodness there’s a mercy rule”. The play itself is brutally slow, the opposite of what a great on-the-go sports title should aim for. Beyond that, the AI and play are easy to exploit, especially after you learn how to turn every single with a runner on second into an RBI double (outfielders will try to throw directly to home plate because cutoff throws didn’t exist in 1989, I guess). Handheld baseball games aren’t supposed to be the deepest experiences, but I know they can offer more than this.
