Back to the Future Part II

A much more frantic sequel, and that’s not an insult. “Part II”’s obsession with never staying in one spot for too long results in more points of humor than the first film, and these jokes hold up surprisingly well (the gag that the presented vision of the future is technologically advanced but culturally stunted will still hit hard fifty years from now). It gets exhausting in its second half, though, when it decides to keep barreling forward with its plot when the story is begging to be reined in. It ends with a trailer, which almost works as damning commentary.
