Army of Darkness

First, the obvious: that the third “Evil Dead” film doesn’t have a three in its title means there will be some who watch this by itself and will be baffled, if not entirely put off, by the bonkers info dump in the first five minutes. “Darkness” also has so little to do with horror that listing that in its genre-qualifiers (this is a medieval action-horror-comedy) feels sort of wrong. That said, this is more “Little Trouble in Little China” than “Evil Dead”, helped incalculably by every third Campbell line belonging on a t-shirt. It’s mindless, but cheese is still tasty.
