Anatomy of a Fall
You know you’ve got a great film on your hands when it is two-and-a-half hours long and you think only five minutes should have been cut out. “Anatomy”, like every great mystery, uses its potential crime as a springboard to talk about issues that would otherwise remain below the surface, and the portrait of a decaying marriage is more haunting than a straightforward analysis of a killer gone berserk could ever be. The film abounds with great performances, from Hüller to relative newcomer Machado-Graner to even the dog (that’s not a joke, this film is a miracle). Difficult but entrancing.
