American Psycho (2000 film)

A conflictless film about a rich yuppie who kills people, or maybe doesn’t. I’ve heard worse pitches. The best jokes involve Patrick Bateman trying to figure things out at the same pace as the audience. These are few and far between until the climax—the film’s bread and butter involve the American Psycho explaining and explaining and explaining, and that’s acceptable world building the first million times it happens but loses steam long before the halfway point. At least “Fight Club” knew how to change things up. This is a film to be memeified, not to be watched or digested.
